FAQ

Q: I have some routine questions for the nurse.  How are they handled?

A: Call our office during normal business hours and follow the prompts.  Our nurses are specially trained to handle most routine phone calls.  Calls received after 4pm may not be returned until the next business day.  Most routine calls during the day are returned within 1-2 hours.

Q: I need a prescription refilled for my child, how is this handled?

A: Simply call the nurse line as you would for any routine call and leave a message.  Please don’t forget to leave the pharmacy number.  If your child has not been seen for a ROUTINE PHYSICAL in the previous year, we will be unable to fill your prescription.

Q: What is the schedule for Routine Well Visits (Physical Examinations) for your practice?  How do I make an appointment if my child is sick?

A: Routine Well Visits (Physical Examinations) are as follows:

  • 1-2 weeks old
  • 2 months
  • 4 months
  • 6 months
  • 9 months
  • 12 months
  • 15 months
  • 18 months
  • 24 months
  • Yearly until age 18

In order to remain an active patient in Dr. Karam’s practice he requests that all patients be seen for a yearly physical starting at age 2.  Dr. Karam will be unable to fill out forms for school, athletics, camps, etc. and will be unable to fill prescriptions and handle routine problems if your child is not seen yearly for a physical.

Sick Visits or visits other than Routine Well Visits are almost always scheduled the same day you call.  We do our best to accommodate same day sick visits, however sometimes you may be asked to be seen the following day.

Q: I would really like to speak to Dr. Karam by phone about my child. Can this be done?

A: Telephone consultation with Dr. Karam is available and needs to be scheduled through the front desk or the nurses at a time that is convenient for both parties.  A consultation fee may apply.
